Exports from Maluku in October 2024 reached USD 8.15 million, marking an increase of approximately 32.16% compared to September 2024. However, cumulatively, the value of exports from January to October 2024 totaled USD 49.19 million, which represents a decline of about 11.27% compared to the same period in 2023. According to Maritje Pattiwaellapia, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Maluku, the October 2024 exports were from the non-oil and gas sector. The primary destinations for Maluku’s exports were ASEAN countries, which imported USD 1.15 million worth of goods, other Asian countries at USD 6.72 million, and countries outside Asia at USD 0.27 million. However, exports through ports outside Maluku in October 2024 totaled USD 2.01 million, showing a decline of 36.15% compared to September 2024. Cumulatively, exports through these ports from January to October 2024 amounted to USD 23.60 million, a decrease of 35.86% compared to the same period in 2023.
In terms of imports, Maluku saw a significant rise in October 2024, reaching USD 32.21 million, up 19.15% from USD 27.03 million in September 2024. Cumulatively, the total value of imports from January to October 2024 reached USD 399.30 million, an increase of 82.72% compared to the same period in 2023. The main sources of Maluku's imports in October 2024 were Singapore (USD 16.08 million), Malaysia (USD 15.92 million), and China (USD 0.21 million). The imported commodities were a mix of both oil and gas, as well as non-oil and gas products. Imports in October 2024 were processed through the Yos Sudarso Port in Ambon and the Wahai Port in Central Maluku Regency.
