Aceh's Export Value Reaches USD 486.1 Million by the Third Quarter of 2024

Banda Aceh | The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Aceh reported that the province’s export value reached USD 486.1 million in the third quarter of 2024 (January-September), a 3.17% decrease compared to USD 502 million in the same period last year. Ahmadriswan Nasution, Head of BPS Aceh, explained that non-oil and gas exports were the largest contributor, totaling USD 308.5 million, while oil and gas exports amounted to USD 177.5 million. The main exported commodities included mineral fuels (coal, crude oil, and natural gas) worth USD 304.1 million, followed by coffee and spices at USD 125.9 million, and processed fish at USD 14.4 million. By destination, the largest export market for Aceh was India, which imported USD 267.7 million in goods, followed by the United States (USD 77.9 million), Thailand (USD 53.6 million), Japan (USD 20.1 million), and other countries (USD 15.4 million). Most exports were shipped through ports in Aceh, totaling USD 319.1 million, while the remainder, USD 165.8 million, was exported via other provinces, mainly North Sumatra.


In September 2024, BPS recorded a total export value of USD 58.24 million, slightly down by 0.35% from the previous month’s USD 58.45 million. The largest export to India during this period was coal, valued at USD 34.33 million, while machinery exports to Malaysia totaled USD 6.21 million and coffee exports to the United States were worth USD 4.99 million. Overall, the biggest export commodities for September were coal (USD 39.18 million), coffee (USD 8.87 million), and machinery (USD 5.87 million).
