Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni has launched the export of agroforestry products to Japan. The export includes 500 kilograms of petai and various non-timber forest products, totaling 9 tons with a value of IDR 989 million. These products are produced by the Social Forestry Group (KPS) Sukobubuk Rejo in Pati, Central Java. The commodities exported consist of jengkol, orange bird's eye chili, curly red chili, green bird's eye chili, bay leaves, papaya flowers, grated coconut, boiled young jackfruit, and boiled cassava leaves.
The petai products are a result of the People's Nursery Garden (KBR) program for Watershed Management and Forest Rehabilitation. This export effort is a collaboration for land rehabilitation and forest restoration. Minister Raja Juli stated that KPS will routinely export agroforestry products to Japan every two weeks, facilitated by PT Asha Nouva International Indonesia and Sariraya, Japan. Additionally, he mentioned plans to develop 4 million hectares of social forestry areas in cooperation with cooperatives and banks to enhance quality and expand operations. The Social Forestry program aims to improve community welfare by granting 35-year management access to communities living near forest areas.
