Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita highlighted the significant contribution of the sports shoe industry to Indonesia's national exports. Speaking at the Indonesia Sport and Active Wear (ISAW) 2024 exhibition in Jakarta on 31 July, Agus announced that exports from the sports shoe industry reached USD 1.86 billion from January to May 2024, marking a 1.05% increase compared to the same period last year. He emphasized that sports shoes are among the top nine commodities in Indonesia's non-oil and gas manufacturing exports. The rising global trend of a healthy lifestyle has spurred demand for sports footwear, contributing to the robust growth of the domestic sports shoe industry. Agus expressed hope that more Indonesians would recognize and choose locally made sports shoes, further boosting the industry. The positive trend in sports shoe exports reflects Indonesia's growing capacity to meet international demand and reinforces the country's position in the global footwear market. This sector's expansion is a testament to Indonesia's manufacturing strength and its potential to increase its share in global exports.
