North Sulawesi Exports Find Favor in US, Europe, and China

Governor Olly Dondokambey highlighted the growing demand for North Sulawesi's export products in markets like the United States, Europe, and China. During a recent statement in Manado, Governor Olly noted that derivative coconut products are particularly popular abroad, with new industries being established in Amurang, South Minahasa Regency, to meet this demand. The governor emphasized that the success of these industries could lead to significant growth in export volumes and industrial production. He mentioned that because the products are food items, they are subject to strict quality controls. Therefore, raw materials from surrounding regions such as North Maluku and Gorontalo must be processed in Amurang before being exported.

This development is expected to benefit not only North Sulawesi but also neighboring regions like Papua and Maluku. Governor Olly pointed out the strategic advantage of Bitung Port, which offers shorter shipping distances to export destinations, making it a positive trade route. He also noted that construction materials, often imported from Jakarta and Surabaya after being produced in China, could be more affordable if shipped directly to North Sulawesi. This would positively impact employment, industrial growth, and trade in the region. To support these industrial and trade expansions, the provincial government has been proactive. One key infrastructure project is the construction of the 39.9-kilometer Manado-Bitung toll road by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, aimed at improving logistical efficiency and supporting regional economic development. This summary showcases North Sulawesi's rising export potential and the province's efforts to capitalize on strategic infrastructure to boost economic growth and trade.
