Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno plans to develop tourism in West Bali and Banyuwangi. This initiative aims to optimize tourist visits to Bali and alleviate the burden on South Bali. During his visit to the Nusantara Fisheries Port (PPN) in Pengambengan on July 13, 2024, Sandiaga expressed his intent to promote activities and infrastructure development in these regions. He is coordinating with the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries to review the development of ports in the area, recognizing the potential for marine tourism connected to the revitalized Nusantara fisheries port.
Sandiaga envisions creating tourist attractions similar to Tsukiji in Tokyo or Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, integrated with the spirit of developing West Bali and Banyuwangi. With the completion of the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi toll road in 2025 and the Gilimanuk-Mengwi toll road in 2027, he expects an increase in tourist visits to West Bali, diversifying from the currently popular South Bali. He emphasized the importance of establishing a tourism system in Jembrana and Banyuwangi to attract visitors to destinations like Pemuteran, Blimbingsari, and the award-winning Manistutu village. This balanced tourism development aims to ensure a more even distribution of tourist attractions across Bali.
