In the first four months of 2024, West Java's coffee exports have reached USD 780,000, targeting markets in Asia and America, with a new focus on the Philippines. To bolster these efforts, the West Java Provincial Government and Bandung Regency held the Familiarization Trip Speciality Coffee and Cacao Buyer event, which brought Filipino coffee entrepreneurs to Bandung, highlighting the region's coffee. Acting Governor Bey Machmudin emphasized the strong interest from buyers in countries such as Japan, the United States, and Malaysia. Bandung Regency also showcased other commodities like chocolate, cloves, and ginger, aiming to match local production with market demands. Bupati Bandung Dadang Supriatna mentioned the upcoming completion of a big data project to better supply local and export markets.
Similarly, Yogyakarta has also engaged in coffee exports to the Philippines. An earlier report highlighted an UMKM, Kopinang Indische Koffie, exporting 50 kilograms of coffee worth USD 376.93 to the Philippines. The coffee, sourced from various regions like Boyolali and Temanggung, was packaged and shipped by air. Imelda Liliyanti, owner of Kopinang Indische Koffie, noted the variety of coffees exported. Kopinang Indische Koffie is part of PROSTARI, a program supporting female entrepreneurs. Turanto Sih Wardoyo, Head of Customs Services at Yogyakarta, expressed hope that this initial export would lead to more significant future shipments, reiterating Customs' commitment to assisting export-oriented UMKMs.
