The second edition of the International Battery Summit (IBS) will be held on July 29-30, 2024, at Hotel Mulia Jakarta, aiming to promote collaboration in the battery industry to advance clean energy transition.With the theme "Future Battery Technology from Upstream to Downstream to Accelerate Clean Energy Transition," the event is expected to serve as a collaborative platform for stakeholders in the battery ecosystem, electric vehicles, and renewable energy to drive energy transition in Indonesia. Evvy explained that IBS 2024 will not only focus on technology but also on the battery industry's aspects. Participants will discuss how they can work together to create business opportunities and strategic alliances. IBS 2024 is expected to attract over 350 participants from 20 countries. More than 50 speakers from 15 countries will share their expertise and experiences, including the Chairman of Future Battery Industry Australia, representatives from LG, and electric vehicle manufacturer Vinfast from Vietnam.
The event will feature 11 discussion sessions covering key topics related to the battery industry, such as mapping Indonesia's resource potential in the global battery supply chain, advancements in battery standardization and safety for electric vehicles and safe energy storage and enhancing the value chain of Indonesia’s nickel through the battery industry. At the same event, Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Rachmat Kaimuddin, stated that the government supports IBS 2024 as a platform to build business opportunities in the battery industry. He emphasized that the Indonesian government views the battery industry as a strategic national industry. "Upstream, we are conducting downstream processing and initial processing in Indonesia. Downstream, we are promoting EV development and building more renewable energy," said Rachmat. "But there are still gaps to be filled, and IBS aims to provide a platform for stakeholders to sit together and explore business opportunities." He added that the government is committed to building an investment-friendly ecosystem and climate that adds value to Indonesia. IBS 2024 is expected to play a significant role in realizing the clean energy transition and boosting Indonesia's economy.
