Indonesia's Electronics Product Exports Target Middle Eastern and African Markets

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) reported that Indonesia's electronics and telematics product exports reached USD 9.09 billion in 2023, encompassing home appliances and telecommunications equipment. Priyadi Arie Nugroho, Director of the Electronics and Telematics Industry (IET) at Kemenperin, highlighted the government's efforts to expand market access for national industries, particularly targeting the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa. The demand for telecommunications and communication products has surged globally due to the growing needs for digital technology services. Key products include mobile phones, laptops, cables, and digital applications, which are essential for both industry and the public. One promotional effort involves participation in Communic Asia 2024 in Singapore, a collaboration between Kemenperin and the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore. This international event aims to showcase the national industry's capabilities, especially in electronics and telematics, while connecting them to the global supply chain.

Kemenperin is bringing 11 companies to exhibit domestically-produced products and technologies such as fiber optic cables, IoT, laptops, CCTV, and digital solutions. The business forum, opened by the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, featured over 100 participants from ASEAN and beyond. It served to inform visitors and co-exhibitors at Communic Asia 2024 about the advantages of national products and services, including presentations on the capabilities and demands of Indonesia's internet services, the ability of Indonesian industry to meet global submarine fiber optic cable demands, and communication technology solutions for plantations, mining, and rural areas. During this event, Kemenperin also outlined industry development policies through a mix of fiscal and non-fiscal measures. Fiscal policies include tax holidays, tax allowances, and super tax deductions to encourage investment, technological mastery, and industry structure strengthening for qualifying companies. Kemenperin appreciated the domestic industries participating in Communic Asia 2024. Priyadi asserted that national industrial products meet international standards and quality, demonstrating their competitiveness on the global stage. This is evidenced by the consistent significant contribution of industrial product exports to the overall export value.
