The subsector of Smallholder Plantation Crops (NTPR) in Central Kalimantan has shown significant growth, with a 1.42% increase in March 2024 compared to February 2024, rising from 139.82 to 141.81. This rise is primarily attributed to the 2.16% increase in the Received Price Index (It), surpassing the 0.72% increase in the Paid Price Index (Ib). Eko Marsoro, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Central Kalimantan, highlighted that this boost in It was driven by the heightened price index of production results, notably for crops like oil palm, rubber, and coconut. Rubber emerged as a significant contributor to the price index increase within the smallholder plantation crops sub sector over the past three months. Meanwhile, palm oil regained its contribution to the price index increase in February and March 2024, following a slight decline in January. The surge in rubber prices was propelled by the upsurge in natural rubber prices during the first two weeks of March 2024. Likewise, the increase in palm oil prices was fueled by global demand escalation, coupled with geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Moreover, the Paid Price Index (Ib) in the smallholder plantation crops subsector saw an increase from 124.41 in February 2024 to 125.31 in March 2024. This 0.72% rise in Ib was driven by the increase in two of its constituents: the Household Consumption Group (KRT) index by 0.83% and the Production Costs and Capital Goods Addition Group (BPPBM) index by 0.14%. The proactive measures undertaken by the Central Kalimantan government, particularly the guidance provided by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), have contributed to fostering sustainable export ecosystems. Through collaborations with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance (Customs and Directorate General of Taxes) and the Department of Cooperatives, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of East Java Province, efforts have been made to support local artisans and enhance their capacity for direct exports, thereby stimulating economic growth and improving the welfare of the community.
