Ambassador Rauf emphasized Egypt's increasing demand for robusta coffee beans, making it a promising market for Indonesian exporters, as Egypt ranks second as Indonesia's largest coffee export destination globally. In 2023, Indonesian coffee bean exports to Egypt topped the list among all countries, reaching USD 92.96 million or approximately IDR 1.46 trillion. This year, the demand surged to USD 95 million or over IDR 1.5 trillion, highlighting the potential for growth in Indonesian coffee exports to Egypt. During the meeting, Ambassador Lutfi Rauf lauded Al Amal for Agricultural Crops' continuous efforts in importing Indonesian coffee beans. He emphasized the importance of fostering strong trade relations for mutual welfare and prosperity between both nations.
Al Amal for Agricultural Crops Director Ragab Shehata expressed gratitude for the support from Indonesian representatives in Cairo and the dedication of Indonesian coffee exporters and farmers. In 2023, Al Amal imported over 4,500 tons of Indonesian coffee beans, primarily Robusta, and aims to import 5,000 tons in 2024, valued at USD 21 million. Indonesia's coffee exports reached USD 1.612 billion globally, with coffee exports to Egypt representing 5.24% of Indonesia's total coffee export market share. Key Indonesian exporters to Egypt include PT Asal Jaya, PT Taman Delta Indonesia, PT Olam Indonesia, and several others. The meeting highlighted the significance of Egypt as a crucial market for Indonesian coffee exports and emphasized the importance of fostering strong trade relations and meeting the increasing demand for Indonesian coffee in Egypt, contributing to the growth of both economies.
