During a recent meeting between the VI Commission of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Nevi Zuairina, a member of DPR RI from the FPKS faction, commended the surpassing of the investment realization target in 2023. The total realization reached IDR 1,418.9 trillion, equivalent to 101.3% of the set target. This success reflects investors' confidence in Indonesia's investment climate and the collective efforts of various stakeholders. BKPM data reveals that the 2023 investment realization comprised IDR 744.0 trillion from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and IDR 674.9 trillion from Domestic Direct Investment (DDI), indicating growth in both quantity and quality of investments. Looking ahead, a bold target of IDR 1,650 trillion for 2024 has been set, supported by stable budget allocations and conducive investment policies. Nevi highlighted the importance of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) mega-project and Special Economic Zones development in Batam, Bintan, and Karimun to attract investor interest and drive sustainable infrastructure development.
To maximize the positive impacts of investments, Nevi emphasized the necessity of policies ensuring capital, technology transfer, utilization of local resources, and absorption of Indonesian labor. This approach aims to prevent negative consequences witnessed in certain regions. Furthermore, Nevi stressed the need for joint commitment between the government and DPR RI to guarantee that investments not only increase in quantity but also in quality, empowering SMEs and creating job opportunities. Additionally, Nevi praised BKPM's efforts to control the use of Domestic Component Levels (TKDN) and promote local labor absorption, crucial for ensuring tangible benefits to the Indonesian economy. Overall, the meeting underscored the importance of sustaining investor confidence, promoting quality investments, and fostering inclusive economic growth through strategic policies and collaborative efforts between government institutions and stakeholders.
