The Capital City Authority Claims Acquisition of 320 LoIs, 55% from Domestic Investors

The Capital City Authority (Otorita Ibu Kota Nusantara or OIKN) has reported securing 328 Letters of Intention (LoI) as of December 15, 2023, with approximately 55% originating from domestic investors focused on the development of the national axis sector. The upcoming Groundbreaking 3, scheduled for December 20-21, 2023, will concentrate on green spaces, the completeness of the national axis ecosystem, and state institutions with non-State Budget (APBN) funding. Deputy of Funding and Investment, Agung Wicaksono, explained that Groundbreaking 3 would encompass various developments such as reforestation in the national axis area, property development, electric transportation, and hospitals, with a target nearing IDR 10 trillion. Investors from Kalimantan will participate in the groundbreaking phase. Agung emphasized that this groundbreaking represents a strong commitment from top-notch investors, both local and international, sharing a vision to build the future of IKN. Regarding investment steps in Nusantara, Agung highlighted that investor selection, capable of progressing to the next stages, is based on development priorities. Presently, Singapore, Japan, China, and Malaysia are the top four countries submitting LoIs.

Agung added that local investors demonstrate mature readiness to develop the National Axis sector. Notably, renowned international investors are also partnering with local investors, such as PSSI with FIFA for the construction of internationally standardized football training fields, PLN Indonesia with SembCorp from Singapore, and Pakuwon Group with Marriott International Group from the United States. Agung further explained that IKN's development is not solely focused on the administrative center but is a blend of the Administrative Center (KIPP) and Economic Center. There will be nine Development Regions (WP) in IKN, with the first being the KIPP region, targeted for completion by August 2024.

Simultaneously, planning has commenced for the other WPs. The remaining 9 WPs cover Core Governmental Area, Economic and Financial Center, Renewable Energy Area, Tourism and Recreation, Education Services, Innovation and Research, Samboja Intersection: Agro Commodities, Trade & Logistics, Kuala Samboja: Agriculture Industry, and Muara Jawa: Fisheries and Agriculture. Previously, OIKN initiated Groundbreaking Phase 1 (September 21-22, 2023) with an investment value of IDR 23.1 trillion.  Phase 2 (November 1-2, 2023) with an investment of IDR 13.1 trillion and also saw the official inauguration of the revitalization of SDN 020 Sepaku, dedicated by local residents. The ongoing development signifies a pivotal commitment from diverse investors, contributing to the multifaceted growth of IKN.
