Commodity Futures Trading Transactions are Predicted to Increase by 25% in 2024

The Indonesia Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (ICDX), also known as Bursa Komoditi dan Derivatif Indonesia (BKDI), foresees a potential 25% surge in commodity futures trading transactions by 2024. Nursalam, the CEO of ICDX, mentioned during the ICDX Outlook event in Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/12/2023) that this growth projection is anticipated for the forthcoming year. He highlighted the expectation of gold continuing to dominate the trades due to its favorable nature among investors, citing gold's familiarity and perceived safety as key reasons behind its prominence. Nursalam further elaborated that ICDX has devised strategies aimed at fostering transactional growth in 2024, focusing on continuous education and literacy programs, product development, and human resource empowerment.

Throughout 2023 until November, ICDX recorded a total of 5,768,054 lots in trading transactions, marking a 12.81% increase compared to the total transactions in 2022, which stood at 5,113,123 lots. The transactions in 2023 comprised 1,517,263 lots in Multilateral transactions and 4,250,791 lots in Alternative Trading System transactions. The Multilateral transaction records in 2023 displayed positive growth from the previous year, soaring from 970,550 lots in 2022. The transaction volume increment in Multilateral transactions from 2022 to November 2023 surged by 56.33%. Meanwhile, Alternative Trading System transactions exhibited a 2.61% increase from 4,142,573 lots in 2022 to 4,250,790 lots by the end of November 2023. These trends and ICDX's initiatives signal a positive trajectory for commodity futures trading, underlining the potential surge and strategic efforts poised to influence the market in 2024.
