In the third quarter of 2023, the export value of the creative industry reached USD 17.4 billion. Fashion contributed USD 9.88 billion, while crafts contributed USD 6.26 billion to this total income. Reni Yanita, Director General of Small, Medium, and Various Industries (IKMA) at the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, expressed pride in this achievement, highlighting the expanding prospects of Indonesia's creative industry. This was addressed during the closing ceremony of the Creative Business Incubator classes held in Denpasar, Bali, on Monday, December 11, 2023. Reni noted the satisfactory performance of the creative industry, observing an actual value added of IDR 1.05 trillion in the third quarter of 2023, reaching 82.1% of the year's target of IDR 1.28 trillion. Despite global challenges such as recession threats, energy crises, and geopolitical tensions, Indonesia recorded a positive economic growth of 4.94% in the third quarter of 2023. The manufacturing sector also showed growth at 5.20% during the same period.
Furthermore, the November 2023 Industrial Confidence Index (ICI) stood at a considerable 52.43%, signifying the expansive position of the creative industry. This indicated a trend of stability and improvement in Indonesian business conditions, leading industry players to be more optimistic about the upcoming six months, as per Reni. The Ministry of Industry through the Directorate General of Small, Medium, and Various Industries (IKMA) actively facilitated the development of young entrepreneurs in the creative sector via the Creative Business Incubator (CBI) program held at the Bali Creative Industry Center (BCIC). The 38-day hybrid CBI program from November 1 to December 8, 2023, involved 60 participants from 17 provinces and 47 districts/cities. Reni mentioned that the CBI program is part of their efforts to nurture creative industry players, particularly in fashion and crafts, to elevate their businesses. Reni expressed hope that participants would apply the acquired knowledge, maintain communication among themselves and the resource persons, become economic drivers in society, and serve as role models for the fashion and craft industries. She emphasized the expectation for an increased distribution as each region possesses unique potential and creativity that should be explored and promoted further.
