During the third quarter of 2023, Bank Indonesia's representation in Aceh noted a significant investment realization amounting to IDR 2.16 trillion, showcasing an impressive growth of 80.50%. Yon Widiyono, the Head of the Formulation Team for the KEKDA BI Aceh Province, revealed this data based on information from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). The report highlighted 3,320 domestic investment projects and 152 foreign investment projects. Breaking down the investments, Yon Widiyono specified that the five sectors dominating the domestic investment share were food crops, plantations, and livestock (25.72%), food industry (23.86%), mining (15.59%), electricity, gas, and water (12%), and other services (8.32%). This information was shared during the Aceh Business Forum - Aceh Economic Review 2023: Media Initiative on Monday (11/22/2023) in Banda Aceh. In addition to the investment figures, the Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB)/investment in the Aceh region grew by 7.29% (YoY), surpassing the previous quarter's growth of 6.94% (YoY). Yon Widiyono noted that Aceh's PMTB development over the past five years experienced fluctuations due to global economic upheavals caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Consistent growth was observed from the fourth quarter of 2022 to the third quarter of 2023, registering a quarterly growth rate of 7.29% (YoY) or 4.38% (QtQ) in the latest data.
Moreover, the financing of investments in Q3 2023 reached IDR 10.15 trillion, reflecting a growth of 5.79% (YoY). Yon Widiyono emphasized that the total financing based on project locations amounted to IDR 49.88 trillion, constituting a share of 20.36%. Highlighting various investment opportunities in Aceh, such as tourism, maritime activities, fisheries, agriculture, and carbon trading, Yon Widiyono urged coordinated efforts and synergy among policymakers to establish robust legal frameworks for investments. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of promoting quality investment in Aceh to attract potential investors. This data signifies positive economic development in Aceh and underscores the need for collaborative efforts to sustain and attract further investments in the region.
