First Week of December, Bank Indonesia Records Foreign Capital Inflow of IDR 4.1 Trillion

Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded a net inflow of foreign capital into the domestic financial market from December 4th to 7th, 2023, amounting to IDR 4.1 trillion. Erwin Haryono from BI's Communication Department clarified that this figure comprised IDR 1.14 trillion of foreign capital inflow into the Government Securities (SBN) market and IDR 3.81 trillion into the Indonesian Rupiah Securities (SRBI). However, there was a net outflow of foreign capital in the stock market amounting to IDR 0.84 trillion. Cumulatively, the net foreign capital inflow into Indonesia from January 1st to December 7th, 2023, reached IDR 76.14 trillion in the SBN market and IDR 40.44 trillion in the SRBI. On the other hand, the net outflow of foreign capital in the stock market totaled IDR 15.29 trillion.


Bank Indonesia also noted Indonesia's 5-year Credit Default Swaps (CDS) risk investment premium at 74.46 basis points (bps) by December 7th, 2023, an increase from the 72.93 bps recorded on November 1st, 2023. Regarding the exchange rate, on December 8th, 2023, the rupiah stood at Rp 15,490 per US dollar. The previous day's closing position was Rp 15,510 per US dollar. During that time, the US dollar index strengthened to 103.54 at the end of trading. Simultaneously, Indonesia's 10-year Government Securities (SBN) yield dropped to 6.57%, while the yield on the US Treasury Note with a similar tenure declined to 4.150%. Erwin highlighted Bank Indonesia's ongoing efforts to reinforce coordination with the government and relevant authorities. He emphasized their strategy to maintain macroeconomic stability and financial system stability, aimed at further supporting economic recovery. These measures are part of a comprehensive policy mix to ensure sustained economic progress, as stated in the official release on Sunday, December 10th, 2023.
