A collection of distinctive batik designs from Wonosobo, Central Java, was showcased in a fashion show at Alun-Alun Kota Wonosobo on Sunday, October 8, 2023. The fashion show, titled "Pesona Batik Wonosobo," was organized by batik craftsmen and SMEs in collaboration with the Regional Craft Council, or Dekranasda, of Wonosobo Regency, Central Java. This event is an effort to preserve batik as an Indonesian cultural heritage and introduce the potential of Wonosobo's unique batik to a national audience. The Chairwoman of Dekranasda Wonosobo, stated that in addition to commemorating National Batik Day on October 2, 2023, this event also aimed to showcase the potential of batik in Wonosobo.
The event is to highlight the incredible potential of Wonosobo's batik, which may not be inferior to batik from other regions, and showcasing various batik products from Wonosobo through a mini expo, as well as displaying the works of batik craftsmen from Wonosobo. In addition to the mini batik expo, the Sobo Craft 2023 event featured a fashion show with 110 participants and a batik competition with 50 participants showcasing Wonosobo's unique batik. There was also a traditional dance performance featuring a 50-meter batik motif fabric. The event had about 110 participants for the batik showcase and 50 participants for the competition, divided into two age categories, children and adults. Meanwhile, The Regent of Wonosobo, who also participated in showcasing batik fashion, encouraged residents to preserve and wear batik for every occasion. The Regent also hope that Wonosobo batik can go international. In addition to the general public, the batik fashion show at the Sobo Craft 2023 event was also attended by the leadership of the Regional Communication Forum of Wonosobo Regency.
