Indonesian Seasoning Industry Participates in Food Ingredients Asia 2023, Ministry of Industry Promotes Global Market Expansion

The Ministry of Industry, or Kemenperin, is encouraging players in the seasoning industry to expand and market their products globally. One of the efforts undertaken is facilitating the participation of food industry players in the Food Ingredients Asia (FIA) 2023 international exhibition held in Bangkok, Thailand, from September 20-22, 2023. FIA 2023 is the largest food ingredients exhibition in Asia that provides an opportunity for industry players to showcase their product excellence. The exhibition also serves as a platform for professionals and players in the food and beverage industry in Asia as stated by Minister of Industry. He added that the food and beverage industry in Indonesia is one of the sectors with the potential to become a key player in the global supply chain. FIA 2023 is expected to act as a catalyst for the growth and development of the food and beverage raw materials industry in the Asian regional area.

He further emphasized the significant role of the food industry in Indonesia's economy. "The food industry contributes approximately 39.17% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of non-oil and gas processing industries in the second quarter of 2023. Moreover, in 2022, the export of the food and beverage industry reached USD 48.6 billion. According to him, measures to increase the national export value need to be promoted to strengthen foreign exchange reserves and enhance Indonesia's position as a global player in this industry. The Ministry’s participation in FIA 2023 is realized in the form of a country pavilion, in collaboration with CBI Netherlands and the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, bringing together seven companies from various regions. These companies include PT Agar Swallow, PT Algalindo Perdana, PT Hakiki Donarta, PT Indo Aneka Atsiri, PT Lautan Natural Krimerindo, PT Galic Bina Mada, and PT Cahaya Cemerlang. Some of the showcased products include agar flour, seaweed flour, konjac, refined carrageenan, carrageenan blends, extracts, essential oils, aroma chemicals, and non-dairy creamer. In FIA 2023, the Indonesian pavilion successfully gathered 416 business contacts and recorded potential transactions worth USD 1 million.
