The Ministry of Trade (MoT) reports that Indonesian fashion products have successfully generated potential transactions worth 2 million USD or equivalent to IDR 29.44 billion during the Indonesia Festival held in South Korea on September 28-29, 2023. As reported, the Director-General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, revealed that these transactions included real business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) for the development of modest fashion. The Indonesia Festival 2023, which took place in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, and featured eight Indonesian modest fashion brands, was part of the Road to Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2024 initiative. The participation of Indonesian modest fashion brands aims to promote Indonesian modest fashion extensively to international markets. This event is one of the Ministry of Trade's efforts to establish a network for Indonesian modest fashion in the international market.
Indonesian modest fashion brands have significant potential to enter the export market. After the exhibition, the Ministry of Trade plans to explore cooperation between Indonesia and potential buyers from South Korea. Therefore, the Director of Creative Services and Product Development at the Ministry of Trade, stated that they are committed to continuously promoting the export of modest fashion created by Indonesian brands and need to consider various factors, including design and sizes tailored to market preferences, product quality, and pricing. These are essential elements to make the products more competitive. The Indonesian modest fashion brands that participated in the event included Apikmen, Arabelle Scarf, Archipelago Texture, Aruna Creative, Fatih Indonesia, Gitaratna, Jenna&Kaia, and Resine & Bouton. They are making efforts to collaborate with local designers, boutiques, entrepreneurs, the Halal Association of South Korea, and the Global Association of Indonesia.
