Indonesia has secured its position as the third-best country in the world for the creative economy, following the United States and South Korea, according to Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy. He made this announcement during a working visit to Cirebon, West Java, emphasizing that Indonesia's creative economy is thriving, with culinary, crafts, and fashion sectors being the major contributors. Additionally, the domestic music and film industries hold promising potential for rapid growth in the coming years, with hopes of surpassing South Korea in the creative economy rankings.
Furthermore, Minister Sandiaga highlighted the positive impact of the creative economy on employment in Indonesia, having generated 24 million job opportunities in this sector. This significant achievement not only aids in reducing unemployment rates but also contributes significantly to the country's domestic economic growth. The creative economy accounts for approximately 8% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), marking one of the highest contributions to the economy, while tourism has already exceeded the 20% target for its share of the GDP.
