South Sulawesi Governor Oversees Export of Fisheries Commodities to Hong Kong

Acting Governor of South Sulawesi oversaw the export of fisheries products weighing 4,126 kilograms, equivalent to IDR 437.5 million, to Hong Kong through Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar. The exported fisheries commodities included live grouper fish, dancing shrimp, dried sea cucumbers, and dried fish stomachs. The Governor mentioned that exporting fisheries products via direct cargo flights ensures higher product quality, freshness, and competitiveness. Hong Kong heavily relies on processed fisheries products, so the government hopes for direct flights from Makassar to Hong Kong. The fisheries products from this region are fresher and more competitive with shorter travel distances compared to going through Jakarta and Surabaya.

Previously, air route exports of fisheries products mainly went through Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta, Surabaya Airport, and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar. From there, they were flown to various destination countries. Some were directly exported through passenger planes to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Currently, fisheries product exports to Hong Kong occur twice a week. He hopes that fish production in the region will increase, and if possible, there will be daily exports abroad. In addition to Hong Kong, South Sulawesi's fisheries export commodities will also be sent to Japan, Singapore, Australia, and China. However, these exports are still in the process of obtaining permits.

The President Director of PT Rusky Aero Indonesia (Raiondo United Services) stated that they will open export flights to Japan, Singapore, Australia, and China, but it is still in the permitting process. To empower small and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM), it was mentioned that they would provide a free export quota of 1 ton out of a capacity of 20 tons to be sent to several destination countries, including Hong Kong.
