The Department of Investment and Integrated One-Stop Services (DPMPTSP) of Sidoarjo Regency has announced that the investment achievement in the first semester of 2023 reached IDR 5.6 trillion. Out of this IDR 5.6 trillion investment achievement, it has not only contributed to the economic growth of Sidoarjo but has also created employment opportunities for the local population. Sidoarjo Regent revealed that in the first semester of 2023, a total of 10,592 workers were employed. This demonstrates that investments are not only beneficial to investors but also have a positive impact on employment opportunities in Sidoarjo Regency. The government continue to strive to align the pace of investment with the increasing trend of labor absorption so that the target of absorbing 100,000 workers can be achieved within the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) 2021 - 2026. Furthermore, one of the efforts of the Sidoarjo Regency Government to attract investors is through sustainable development currently underway.
With some of the developments the government have undertaken, including flyovers and concrete roads in several village areas in Sidoarjo Regency, will attract investors to invest in Sidoarjo. With this positive investment achievement, it will also be proportional to a high level of labor absorption. According to data from DPMPTSP Sidoarjo Regency, the highest realization of employment comes from the Trade and Repair sector, with a total of 2,607 workers. Second, there is the Chemical and Pharmaceutical sector with 1,207 workers, followed by the Food Industry sector with 1,074 workers. The realization of labor absorption from foreign direct investment (FDI) amounts to 2,037 workers, contributing 20% of the total. Meanwhile, for domestic investment (PMDN), 8,555 workers were employed, constituting 80% of the total labor absorption. One of the factors supporting a healthy investment climate in Sidoarjo includes ease of business permits for entrepreneurs, encompassing the provision of information services and business permit consultation services.
