The Central Statistics Agency (Badan Pusat Statistik) has reported that the export performance of Bengkulu Province in August 2023 recorded a significant increase of 20.59% compared to the previous month of July. Total exports from Bengkulu Province in August 2023 reached USD 15.13 million. This export value saw a 20.59% increase when compared to the USD 12.55 million recorded in July 2023 as stated by the Head of the Bengkulu Provincial BPS, in Bengkulu on Monday. According to him, the value of exports from Bengkulu Province in August 2023 through Pulau Baai Port amounted to USD 14.19 million, accounting for 93.76% of the province's total exports, known as the 'Land of Rafflesia.'
Through Boom Baru Port (South Sumatra) USD 0.94 million (6.20%), through Soekarno Hatta USD 5.81 thousand (0.04%), and through Denpasar, Ngurah Rai USD 264 (0.002%). The commodities exported by Bengkulu Province in August 2023 were predominantly coal, totaling USD 12.77 million or 84.39% of the total exports. Following that were palm kernel shells at USD 1.42 million, approximately 9.37% of the total exports; rubber at USD 0.94 million, or 6.20%; and leeches at USD 4.32 thousand, or 0.03%. The increase in exports can be attributed to a 12.75% rise in coal exports and the export of palm kernel shells in August 2023. However, rubber exports experienced a 22.91% decline compared to July 2023.
