Minister of Agriculture SYL Urges Livestock Farmers to Strengthen Downstream Activities

Indonesia's Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, called on the country's farmers to strengthen the downstream processing of livestock-based food as a crucial pillar for the nation's future. He made this statement during the 187th commemoration of the Farmers and Animal Health Month in Boyolali, emphasizing that the agricultural sector holds the potential to make Indonesia resilient, particularly in the face of crises and extreme weather conditions like El Nino. Over the past four years, the agriculture sector has consistently grown and contributed significantly to the national economy.

Minister SYL highlighted the importance of food security as a key factor in maintaining social stability, asserting that a well-nourished population is less prone to conflicts. He also noted that the Ministry of Agriculture offers various programs and microcredit services to support farmers, such as the Si Komandan program, which has successfully raised 8 million head of cattle. The Minister encouraged farmers to utilize these programs and enhance their farming practices, emphasizing the significance of animal-based food in Indonesia's agricultural landscape and the need for increased investment and consolidation in livestock farming.
