Jakarta Dessert Week (JDW) is making a comeback, running from September 25 to October 22, 2023, and uniting dessert and pastry enthusiasts in Indonesia. The event features over 100 restaurant brands, ranging from corporate giants to home-based industries. This year's JDW introduces three key programs: City Takeover, inviting the public to explore over 100 curated restaurants and cafes; Dessert Markt at Aloha PIK, a marketplace for emerging brands with 30+ SME tenants; and a collaboration with Tokopedia, offering a variety of local desserts and pastries for online consumers. JDW aims to support local food and beverage entrepreneurs, including those in the dessert and pastry sector.
Moreover, JDW's impact over the past four years has been recognized, earning it a place as one of the Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2023 by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia. KEN strives to boost the creative economy by promoting tourism destinations and local potential while adhering to sustainable development principles. JDW, with its dedication to showcasing Indonesian desserts and fostering international recognition of Indonesian products, aligns with KEN's mission. In its fifth year, JDW adopts the theme of Folklore, encouraging chefs to create limited edition menus inspired by local and foreign folklore to promote cultural values in the modern culinary landscape. The event also includes collaborations with celebrity chef Yuda Bustara and features environmentally friendly raw materials from various Indonesian districts for canapés, further emphasizing its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the culinary world.
