The Indonesian government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, actively promoted a diverse range of Indonesian fruits, vegetables, and food products at the Amazing ASEAN event hosted by Lulu Hypermarket in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on September 6, 2023. Lulu Hypermarket, one of Asia's largest retail chains and the Middle East's largest, provided an extensive platform for showcasing Indonesian produce and products. This initiative was part of Indonesia's broader efforts to expand its market presence in Saudi Arabia, leveraging Lulu Riyadh's vast hypermarket network.
During the event, distinguished ambassadors from ASEAN member nations, including Indonesia, highlighted the growing presence of Indonesian products in Saudi Arabia through the global value chain. Indonesian offerings such as tropical fruits, vegetables, beverages, and even ready-to-eat dishes garnered significant attention. The shopping tour at Lulu Hypermarket featured a wide selection of Indonesian goods, with a notable focus on quality and sustainability, reflecting Indonesia's commitment to providing high-quality products to the global market. Data from the Ministry of Trade revealed that Indonesian exports of food and beverage products, vegetables, and fruits to Saudi Arabia experienced substantial growth, with the export value reaching USD 215.2 million in 2022 and showing continued growth in 2023. This collaborative effort between the government, the embassy, and Lulu Hypermarket signifies Indonesia's commitment to expand its export market in Saudi Arabia by showcasing the richness of its agricultural and food products, ultimately benefiting both Indonesian producers and consumers in Saudi Arabia.
