Halal industrial products from Indonesian Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) were showcased at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2023. This promotion aims to encourage sustainable development in Indonesia's halal industry. The exhibition took place from September 12 to 15, 2023, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. MIHAS is the largest annual halal product exhibition in Malaysia, marking its 19th edition this year. The Project Manager of Halal Indonesia International Trade Show (HIITS), stated that this event has the potential to promote Indonesian halal products on the international stage, opening new avenues for growth and prosperity for MSMEs. It can also strengthen Indonesia's position in the global halal product market.
According to the Global Islamic Economy Indicator 2022 by Dinar Standard, Indonesia currently ranks second in halal food, third in Muslim fashion, and sixth in Islamic finance. However, many local MSMEs still face limitations in accessing information to market their products. By participating in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase 2023, MSMEs are expected to serve as gateways to international markets. In this context, HIITS, the Sharia Economic Society (MES), Indonesia Setara Foundation, and Ready for Work House (RSK) play a role in connecting MSMEs with markets. Meanwhile, an MSME entrepreneur specializing in rendang, supported by the Indonesia Setara Foundation, Ilda, expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of exporting her products to Madagascar. The exhibition encouraged entrepreneurs to expand their business into international markets. MIHAS exhibition is an opportunity that Indonesian MSMEs should utilize effectively, as it serves as a meeting point for halal product entrepreneurs from around the world to expand their market reach. Hopefully, after this event, sellers can secure buyers and go international, so that the products can be recognized globally. In addition to Ilda, MSMEs under the Indonesia Setara Foundation expressed their gratitude to Ready for Work House and Gemawira for the opportunity to participate in the largest exhibition, which includes international buyers.
