Indonesia's cocoa industry is thriving, making significant contributions to the country's economy. Despite the challenging global industrial landscape, the sector has experienced remarkable growth. Indonesia ranks as one of the world's largest cocoa producers and is the third-largest exporter of processed cocoa products worldwide, holding a substantial 9.17% share in the global market. Its active involvement in the cocoa and chocolate industry not only bolsters the national economy but also establishes Indonesia as a major global player, renowned for the exceptional quality of its products. The 8th Indonesian International Cocoa Conference & Dinner 2023 highlights Indonesia's pivotal role in the cocoa sector.
Indonesia's success is evident in its cocoa production and processing capabilities. It ranks seventh in global cocoa bean production and is a key player in processing cocoa products, closely following the Netherlands and Ivory Coast. Indonesia's processed cocoa exports, including cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, cocoa cake, and cocoa powder, exceed 327,000 tons annually, distributed to 96 different countries. Moreover, the country's chocolate product industry has shown impressive growth, with exports reaching USD 76 million in 2022, reflecting a 9.59% increase compared to the previous year. Indonesia's cocoa industry continues to flourish, offering immense potential for future development, particularly in the artisanal chocolate sector, which is poised for substantial growth.
