The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, emphasizes the significance of culinary tourism as a major attraction for visitors in Indonesia's big cities, including Semarang. He noted that nearly 48 percent of tourists choose to visit major Indonesian cities primarily for culinary experiences. Sandiaga encourages young entrepreneurs in the creative economy sector to focus on culinary tourism, making it a flagship industry through innovation, collaboration, and adaptation.
Recent data reveals valuable insights for creative economy entrepreneurs, particularly in the culinary subsector. The average price point for culinary transactions in cities like Semarang is around IDR 50,000, with the typical visitor age averaging around 40 years. These statistics can guide creative economy practitioners and influencers in creating and developing products or content that resonate with their target audience.
Sandiaga also appreciates the presence of Guldip in Semarang, which offers an additional attraction for tourists and enriches the city's creative culinary products. He hopes that Guldip and similar ventures can contribute to the creation of 4.4 million new jobs by 2024 and promote Semarang as a culinary tourism destination.
