Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni discussed several areas of cooperation and Italian investments in Indonesia during a bilateral meeting held at Bharat Mandapam, IECC, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India, on Sunday. Regarding investments, President Jokowi welcomed the increased investments from Italy in Indonesia. Indonesia welcomed the increased Italian investments and the inauguration of the Piaggio factory last year. Furthermore, President Jokowi expressed his appreciation for Italy's commitment to the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) scheme. He hoped that this commitment could be realized in the near future because support for funding mobilization is a crucial element of the energy transition.
In addition, the Head of State invited Italy to participate in the development of the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in Indonesia and green infrastructure also the construction of the Nusantara Capital. During the approximately 20-minute meeting, President Jokowi also sought Prime Minister Meloni's support for Indonesia's membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Accompanying the President in the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan, and State Secretary Pratikno.
