The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) in Indonesia has taken proactive steps to facilitate business permits, aiming to promote sustainable business activity in the marine and fisheries sector. Collaborating with local governments and associations, KKP established a consultation booth for business permits, particularly for shrimp aquaculture in Makassar, South Sulawesi, from September 7th to 8th.
This initiative is part of KKP's efforts to expedite services and permit issuance in the marine and fisheries sector. It simplifies the process for aquaculture operators to obtain clear information regarding business permits, aligning with the principles of the Job Creation Law. The consultation booth focuses on permits for shrimp aquaculture in ponds through the Online Single Submission Risk Based Analysis (OSS RBA) system.
Tb Haeru Rahayu, also known as Tebe, the Director-General of Fisheries Aquaculture, highlighted the importance of sustainable practices in the sector. South Sulawesi, particularly Makassar, holds great potential to become a shrimp industry hub, contributing significantly to Indonesia's economic growth. Tebe emphasized that efficient permit processes are achievable when all requirements are met, and he encouraged businesses to refrain from using brokers, as it could result in higher costs.
Furthermore, Tebe emphasized the importance of certification and the implementation of Good Aquaculture Practices (CBIB), which assures the quality and safety of aquaculture products. In an era of heightened global awareness of food quality and safety standards, CBIB ensures that aquaculture products meet international standards and are accepted by importing countries. The consultation booth has proven beneficial for shrimp farmers, enabling them to navigate complex permit requirements, ultimately supporting increased production targets while adhering to environmentally friendly practices.
