The Mayor of Serang received representatives from Beauty Muslimah Indonesia, Banten region, in the City Hall on September 11, 2023. Also present were Asda III Kusna R, the Head of Education and Culture Department, representatives from the tourism department, and the head of general affairs.
During the meeting, the chairperson of the organizing committee for Beauty Muslimah Banten 2024, Wildan Auli Oktaviani, presented an overview of Beauty Muslimah Indonesia, its activities, and the upcoming regional screening event to be held in Serang. Wildan noted that there has been a yearly increase in the number of participants, indicating high public interest. The event will feature various activities, including educational programs in villages and a film project that highlights elements from Banten, especially Serang, such as tourist locations, traditional cuisine, and cultural aspects like "debus" and Bantenese batik. The organizing committee expressed their hope for support and assistance from the government, particularly from the City of Serang, to ensure the success of this initiative.
Mayor Syafrudin praised the program as a valuable cultural and tourism endeavor. He emphasized the importance of promoting not only religious tourism, which is well-known in Serang and beyond but also cultural elements such as pencak silat, considering Serang's reputation as a city of martial arts. He also expressed hope that the initiative would stimulate the creative economy in the Serang community. In addition to granting permits and recommending historic buildings in Serang for the film project that showcases the city's culture, Mayor Syafrudin advised the organizing committee to engage with the Banten provincial government, especially for activities that cover the broader Banten region.
