Indonesian Vegetable and Fish Products Record Transactions Worth IDR 423 Billion in Taiwan

Indonesia has successfully recorded potential transactions worth USD 28.26 million or approximately IDR 423 billion for agricultural and fisheries products in Taipei, Taiwan. The Head of the Indonesian Trade and Economic Office (KDEI) in Taipei, stated that Indonesia possesses natural resource advantages that enable the production of high-quality and competitive agricultural and fisheries products. Indonesian agricultural and fisheries products can compete in the Taiwan market, known for its high food safety standards. This potential transaction was achieved through the participation of Indonesian businesses in the Smart Agriweek and International Ocean and Fisheries Show.

In this year's participation, KDEI Taipei facilitated three Indonesian exporters in showcasing products such as cabbage, Chinese cabbage, broccoli, skipjack tuna, swordfish, squid, and snails at the Indonesian Pavilion. KDEI Taipei continues to make efforts to facilitate the entry of Indonesian commodities, especially agricultural and fisheries products, into the Taiwan market, as both sectors support millions of farmers and fishermen and their families. Additionally, KDEI Taipei's participation in this exhibition aims to maintain and enhance the market that has already been established. During this exhibition, KDEI Taipei also displayed a range of products from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) trained under the Export and Trade Services Human Resources Training Center. These SME products included coffee beans, tea, traditional herbal remedies, chocolate, cardamom, vanilla, and various fruit snacks. In addition to the exhibition, KDEI Taipei facilitated Indonesian exporters in direct meetings with potential buyers. This facilitation resulted in the potential transactions for agricultural products, specifically Chinese cabbage and cabbage, totaling USD 2.2 million until the end of 2023. Meanwhile, for fisheries products, potential transactions were recorded for vannamei shrimp worth USD 25.6 million, frozen squid worth USD 1 million, and escargot worth USD 340,000. In 2022, Indonesia's vegetable exports to Taiwan reached USD 14.42 million, marking a 6% increase from the previous year.
