South Sumatra's Exports in July 2023 Reached USD 548.86 Million

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) stated that the export value of South Sumatra in July 2023 reached 544.87 million US dollars, down 5.57% compared to exports in June 2023 worth 548.86 million US dollars. Head of BPS South Sumatra, Moh Wahyu Yulianto, in a statement in Palembang, Monday, said that the decline in export value was due to a decrease in the value of oil and gas exports to 38.33 million US dollars or a decrease of 6.18 million US dollars, compared to the June 2023 period of 44. 51 million US dollars. However, he explained that non-oil and gas exports for the July 2023 period increased by 0.51% or 2.59 million US dollars to 506.53 million US dollars, compared to the June 2023 period of 503.95 million dollars. Cumulatively, the export value of South Sumatra in the period January to July 2023 reached 4.01 billion US dollars, compared to the same period in 2022 which was valued at 4.21 billion US dollars, a decrease of 4.84 percent or 203.60 million dollars.

BPS South Sumatra also recorded that the import value in July 2023 reached 68.60 million US dollars or an increase of 49.19% compared to June 2023 which was valued at 45.98 million US dollars. This was caused by an increase in oil and gas and non-oil and gas imports, with details of oil and gas imports increasing by 0.91 million US dollars or 94.85% to 1.88 million US dollars, and non-oil and gas imports increasing by 21.70 million US dollars or 8.21 million US dollars to 66.72 million US dollars. The increase in non-oil and gas imports was mainly contributed by rubber commodities and rubber goods which increased by 7.90 million US dollars to 8.26 million US dollars.
