Investment Minister: Investment Realization Reaches 48.5%

The Investment Minister and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) announced that the investment realisation for the first semester of 2023 has reached 48.5% of the target set by President Joko Widodo. As of the first semester of 2023, out of the target of IDR 1,400 trillion, the investment realisation has achieved IDR 678.7 trillion, which is equivalent to 48.5% as stated by The Minister. This achievement is also equivalent to 61.7% of the Strategic Plan (Renstra) target of IDR 1,099.8 trillion. The investment realisation is broken down into Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) amounting to IDR 363.3 trillion or 53.5% and Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) totaling IDR 315.4 trillion or 46.5%. Furthermore, the investment realisation outside of Java, totaling IDR 345.9 trillion, exceeds the investment within Java, which stands at IDR 323.8 trillion.

From the third quarter of 2020 to the second quarter of 2023, investments outside of the island of Java have been greater than those in Java. This is a manifestation of the efforts to build Indonesia that is not Java-centric but Indonesia-centric. The progress in realising the budget allocation of the ministry until August 31, 2023, reached IDR 793 billion or 70.09% of the total budget of IDR 1.1 trillion. Regarding the budget allocation for the ministry in the fiscal year 2024, The Minister noted that it amounts to IDR 1.23 trillion, both in the indicative budget and the budget allocation. The breakdown of this amount includes IDR 416 billion for Management Support Programs and IDR 810 billion for Investment Promotion Programs. The similarity in these two budget allocations follows a Joint Letter from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, stating that the Budget Allocation for 2024 remains unchanged compared to the Indicative Budget.
