The President of the World Bank and the Managing Director of the IMF have expressed their appreciation for Indonesia's economic achievements. According to Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, they commended Indonesia's economic growth and its ability to control inflation simultaneously. "Even the Managing Director of the IMF stated that ASEAN is a bright spot in a challenging global situation, and Indonesia is considered a source of joy and hope," Retno said in her statement following her attendance alongside President Jokowi at the meeting, as quoted in the palace's press release on Monday (September 4, 2023).

She mentioned that Indonesia's economic growth could serve as a valuable lesson for other developing countries. "And this also serves as a lesson for other developing countries. If Indonesia can do it, then other developing nations should also strive for it," she added. Furthermore, Retno stated that during the meeting with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and her delegation, President Jokowi discussed the global economic situation. "During discussions with the World Bank and IMF, he exchanged thoughts on global economic issues," Retno explained. President Jokowi was accompanied by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and State Secretary Pratikno at the meeting.
