Investment Realisation In North Sumatra Grows 15% In The First Semester of 2023

The Secretary of the North Sumatra Provincial Government announced that investment realisation in the region has witnessed a growth of 15.75% or IDR 22.206 trillion in the first semester of 2023. The North Sumatra Provincial Government has provided support in the form of incentives and ease to investors through the issuance of regional regulations. The North Sumatra Provincial Government has issued Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 3 of 2023 concerning Incentives and Investment Facilitation. There are numerous opportunities and collaborations that can be forged. In 2023, the investment target in North Sumatra is IDR 50 trillion. Meanwhile, the Head of the Investment and Integrated Service One-Stop Shop (DPMPTSP) of North Sumatra, added that in 2022, the investment realisation in North Sumatra reached IDR 41.676 trillion, surpassing the target of IDR 39.3 trillion. North Sumatra also prepared to welcome investors, both domestic and foreign direct investment (FDI).
 
The rapid growth of investment in North Sumatra is due to its strategic location and abundant investment potential, this is also evident in Special Economic Zones (SEZ). In 2023, through the North Sumatra Investment, projects from 33 regencies/cities in North Sumatra have been identified and mapped to be prioritised for promotion. Preparation of Investment Project Ready to Offer (IPRO) documents is also underway. Electricity, gas, and water sectors have attracted the attention of investors, both domestic and FDI, with an investment value of IDR 3.55 trillion, followed by the food industry with IDR 3.38 trillion, chemical and pharmaceutical industry with IDR 3.05 trillion, transportation, warehouse, and telecommunications with IDR 2.84 trillion, and mining with IDR 2.33 trillion. The largest foreign investors in terms of investment value are Singapore with IDR 5.9 trillion, followed by the Netherlands with IDR 3.36 trillion. There are also investments from the British Virgin Islands with IDR 375 billion, Malaysia with IDR 284 billion, and Switzerland with IDR 204 billion.
