Pisang Mas Products from Tanggamus Regency’s SMEs Penetrate The International Market

One by one, products from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Tanggamus Regency, Lampung, are making their mark in the international market. Following the success of woven tapis crafts, now it's the turn of 'pisang mas' (golden banana), which has found its way to markets in Singapore and Japan. The Head of the Department of Cooperatives, SMEs, Industry, and Trade of Tanggamus, Lampung, explained that pisang mas cultivation and trade involve 9 sub-districts. This pisang mas enterprise is a part of the Hijau Makmur cooperative. The cooperative has collaborated with PT GGP for marketing pisang mas and currently, pisang mas has successfully penetrated markets in Japan and Singapore. For local distribution, PT GGP has also facilitated its availability in Jabotabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi), Tegal, Semarang, and Yogyakarta.

Additionally, the Hijau Makmur cooperative was recently invited by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs to participate in an international 'pisang emas' (golden banana) exhibition in Bali. Pisang mas from Tanggamus Regency has already found buyers in various countries and regions. It is noteworthy that the Tanggamus Regency Government consistently supports the entry of woven tapis crafts and various products from local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) into the international market. One such effort included the participation of various woven tapis crafts and selected Tanggamus SME products in a solo exhibition organised by the Spanish fashion entrepreneur/designer Ms. Isabel. The exhibition took place at The Oberoi Resort Seminyak Bali. The exhibition showcased five tapis kimonos created by artisans from Tanggamus Regency, particularly Dija Colection. Each kimono was offered at a price of IDR 50 million. Among the exhibited Tanggamus SME products were powdered coffee, palm sugar, banana chips, coffee-flavoured crackers, and others. Visitors were enthusiastic about witnessing the coastal cultural heritage depicted in the tapis kimono attire. It is also hoped that this tapis art will elevate Tanggamus SME products onto the international stage.
