Indonesian Fishery Products Gain Potential Transaction of USD 8.8 Million

Director General of National Export Development Didi Sumedi revealed that the Ministry of Trade is targeting the Japanese market as one of the promotional and nation branding destinations. Participation in this exhibition will increase exports of Indonesian seafood products that are safe for consumption and sustainable so that it will continue the export performance of Indonesian fishery products to the world in 2022 which grows positively. The contribution of Indonesian fishery product exports to Japan is recorded at around 12% of the total exports of Indonesian fishery products to the world and Japan's demand for fishery products is projected to continue to increase. At the exhibition, the Indonesian Pavilion presented 11 business actors who had been curated based on criteria of production capacity, certification, and export experience.
Fishery products displayed come from various regions, such as North Sumatra, Lampung, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali, North Sulawesi, and Papua. During the exhibition, participants explored business deals (business matching) between 3 to 6 times per day at the Indonesian Pavilion. Aside from Japan, visitors to the pavilion came from China, South Korea, India, Spain, Canada, Algeria, and other countries. One potential buyer from Japan expressed his interest in fishery products from Indonesia because of the quality and policy support of the Government of Indonesia for measurable fishing so that it can maintain sustainability. The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Tokyo Heri Akhmadi said that the potential growth of fishery product exports in the Japanese market is very promising, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. One of them is because some hotels, restaurants, and eating places in Japan require fish products in large quantities to serve the arrival of tourists and household needs.
