In a bid to bolster the national economy, the Customs Office of Semarang is actively supporting local entrepreneurs in maximising commodity exports. Businesses operating within the Kendal Special Economic Zone (KEK) are encouraged to optimise the export channels for their products to various countries. This effort was exemplified by the success of PT Borine Technology Indonesia in conducting its inaugural export of household products, specifically the HBB Can Opener, to Los Angeles, United States.
The symbolic commencement of this export took place within the KEK Kendal area in Kabupaten Kendal on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. The achievement stems from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed for production transfer between PT Borine Technology Indonesia and Hamilton Beach, an event witnessed by the Minister of Trade of Indonesia, Zulkifli Hasan, during the APEC MRT meeting in Detroit, Michigan, USA.
Didi Sumedi, Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia, highlighted that Hamilton Beach is a prominent kitchen appliances company with a 20% market share across the American continent. PT Borine Technology Indonesia's first export consisted of 10,378 units of the Can Opener HR0015, with a total value equivalent to USD 76,278.30. This accomplishment was supported by the Customs Office of Semarang, playing a vital role in enhancing business convenience within the KEK Kendal.
Bier Budy Krismulyanto, Head of the Customs and Excise Monitoring and Service Office Type A Semarang, affirmed their commitment to promoting business ease within the KEK Kendal. He stated that the Customs Office of Semarang will continue to strive for export encouragement and establish a favourable investment climate for businesses operating within the KEK Kendal.
