Foreign Tourist Visits Reach 5.2 Million, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Confident in Achieving Tourist Targets

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy stated that the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia continues to rise. Until the end of June, there were already 5.2 million tourists who visited the country. The Ministry is optimistic that by the end of this year, the number of foreign tourist visits can reach 10 million people as the Minister stated during the opening of the National Work Meeting (Rakernas) of the Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies Association (Asita) at Hotel Alana Yogyakarta. According to him, the initial target for foreign tourist visits last year was 7.4 million. However, President Jokowi revised this target to 8.5 million.

He also mentioned that over the past three years, the tourism and creative industry faced significant challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted all sectors of the industry. Nevertheless, foreign tourists are now showing positive signs of returning, as the COVID-19 situation has improved. All of this is due to the strong spirit of unity among the Indonesian people.
