Central Java’s economic growth exceeds national economic growth. This was exposed in the submission of the results of the state budget performance of representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Central Java until July 2023. The presentation showed that Central Java economic growth was higher than the national average, becoming an extradionary achievement in efforts to rebuild the economy after Covid-19 pandemic. After facing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the central and local governments are focusing on rebuilding to realize the Advanced Indonesia Vision 2045. One of the keys to achieving this vision is systematic, purposeful, and sustainable economic transformation. This transformation aims to increase economic output and put the economy back on track. Despite ongoing global challenges, Indonesia and particularly Central Java momentum of the previous period. One of the key indicators of economic growth is the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate.
In the second quarter of 2023, Central Java recorded economic growth of 5.23%, higher than the national economic growth of 5.17%. This indicate that Central Java’s economic growth was driven by the Accommodation and Food and Drink Provision sector, which grew by 10.45%. In addition, Government Consumption also plays an important role with an increase of 9.39%. On the inflation side, Central Java managed to keep inflation at a relatively low level, namely 0.20% in July 2023. This stable economic growth is also reflected in several indicators of public welfare. The poverty rate in Central Java dropped to 10.77%, indicating improved welfare. The unemployment rate also decreased to 5.24%, indicating better job opportunities for the population. Although the Gini ratio rose slightly, it was still below the national average, indicating a more even distribution of income.
