Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said the 2023 Traditional Runway Festival which presents art and cultural attractions in Kuantan Singingi Regency (Kuansing), Riau is expected to be a momentum to improve the economy and community welfare. Economic activities in this area will open business opportunities, stimulate the economy, and will see MSMEs that get higher turnover in addition to having a direct impact on the community in Kuansing. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno explained that the runway festival held on August 23-27, 2023 was part of the 110 agendas in Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2023. Therefore, he said, it is hoped that many tourists who come can revive the community's economy.
Based on data from the Riau Tourism Office that pacu jalur is a tradition full of historical value. The path in the Kuansing regional language is interpreted as a sampan or a long boat. Riau Tourism Agency Head Roni Rakhamat said that in 2022 the runway attracted 1.3 million people who watched the event. They came from outside the area traders and Kuansing people who returned from overseas to local and foreign tourists. The runway festival will be held from 23 to 27 August 2023, followed by 193 lanes both from Kuansing Regency and lines from other districts in Riau. This event is held every August at Tepian Narosa, Taluk Kuantan, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau. In every path that is boarded there are concang aka cue-givers, waist or helmsmen, dancers and onjays.
