Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, revealed that Indonesia has a vital role to ensure ASEAN remains a stable region. Focusing on sustainable economy, Indonesia launched initiatives related to sustainable finance and electric vehicle ecosystem. Indonesia's leadership in ASEAN, he continued, is not just a symbol. But a manifestation of dedication and commitment to realize ASEAN's shared vision. According to Airlangga, Indonesia's leadership received a positive response from member countries. Solid support has been provided by all ASEAN member states. Not only that, he said, ASEAN is even recognized as one of the stable regions in the Indopacific. This is because positive growth and political stability are relatively good after the Covid-19 pandemic hit. In the last 20 years, the ASEAN economy has been fairly stable.
Furthermore, he added, Indonesia has contributed to the framework of regional cooperation, such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The RECP is echoed in order to support ASEAN's sustainable initiatives. Moreover, it involves a large number of Asia-Pacific countries. RECP itself is one of the largest trading blocs in the world.
