The agenda of the 55th ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) meeting continued on Tuesday. The first agenda was opened with the AEM-Closer Economic Relations (CER) Consultations. Deputy Trade Minister Jerry Sambuaga as AEM Chair said the results of the meeting appreciated the signing of the second protocol of the second amendment to AANZFTA. AANZFTA is a free trade agreement between ASEAN members and Australia and New Zealand. Jerry explained, the agreement will provide many benefits, especially for Indonesia. For example, increasing the flow of trade in goods and services to open opportunities for entrepreneurs and investor.
This is a lot of benefits of AANZFTA for Indonesia. First, increasing the smooth flow and trade of service goods, providing opportunities for business actors and investors and facilitating business climate certainty, increasing the use of digital technology adoption, and of course providing many opportunities for information cooperation areas and increasing the capacity of MSMEs.
