President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that the bilateral trade value between Indonesia and Kenya continues to increase. In 2022, it reached USD 507 million. The increase in trade amounting to USD 507 million in 2022 needs to be expanded by exploring various other opportunities. He also emphasised that Indonesia and Kenya are committed to strengthening their cooperation. Both countries have agreed to establish a preferential trade agreement that will be ratified soon. Indonesia also agrees to enhance investments in Kenya, particularly in the energy and livestock sectors. Thirdly, the cooperation between the drug supervisory authorities of both countries and the collaboration between bio-pharmaceutical industries, specifically with Africa's generic drugs, limited to vaccines and pharmaceutical products.
Furthermore, he mentioned that Indonesia and Kenya have also agreed to cooperate in advancing the use of renewable energy. Both nations will collaborate in utilising renewable energy to aid each other in the fields of health and food security. Apart from economic collaboration, Jokowi urged the world to grant rights for developing countries to have a voice. It's time for us to strengthen a new spirit among global nations.
