Batam once again emerges as the largest contributor to foreign investment in the Riau Islands Province. According to records from the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), 83.6% of foreign investment in the Riau Islands Province during the first semester (January-June) comes from Batam. The investment realisation in Batam itself has reached USD 348.09 million, equivalent to around IDR 5.15 trillion, out of the total investment value in the Riau Islands Province amounting to USD 416.4 million.
 
Muhammad Rudi, the Head of BP Batam, welcomed this positive achievement. Rudi hopes that the increased investment value will have a positive impact on the future economic growth of Batam. BP Batam also appreciates and fully supports companies that intend to invest in Batam. He is also optimistic that this increase in investment value can elevate Batam's economic growth to 7%, considering that Batam's economy grew by 6.84% throughout 2022. These figures undoubtedly provide a positive signal for future economic improvement, especially considering that Batam serves as the economic locomotive in the Riau Islands Province. He invites all stakeholders to maintain a conducive environment to ensure that the investment climate continues to operate optimally.
