Vice President Maruf Amin asked related parties to provide assistance to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the agricultural sector in order to reach the export market for agricultural commodities. On this occasion, agricultural commodity exports worth IDR 12.45 trillion were released to 176 countries. Commodities released at the event titled Merdeka Export, including durian fruit, ginger, milk and eggs. According to him, the release of exports indicates that the agricultural commodities owned by Indonesia are of good quality and deserve to be accepted by the global market. He also appreciated the performance of the Ministry of Agriculture which has provided assistance in the form of technical guidance and accelerated services so that the acceleration of agricultural exports can be realized. In addition, appreciation was also given to farmers, business actors, as well as all other relevant stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
For information, through assistance and services that have been carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture, agricultural exports have proven to have increased significantly even though the COVID-19 pandemic was accompanied by political tensions in a number of countries. In 2020, agricultural exports were able to reach IDR 451.77 trillion, an increase of 15.79% compared to 2019 which only reached IDR 390.16 trillion. Likewise in 2021, agricultural exports were recorded to have increased to IDR 616.35 trillion or an increase 36.43% when compared to the previous year. Whereas in 2022, agricultural exports will reach IDR 658.18 trillion, an increase of 6.79% compared to the previous year and the year so far agricultural exports are predicted to increase, where the realization of agricultural exports for the January-June 2023 period was recorded at IDR 260.33 trillion.
