Papuan Fisheries Products Successfully Penetrate Singaporean Market

The Customs Office in Jayapura facilitated the inaugural export of marine products, namely sea cucumbers and fish bladders originating from Papua, to Singapore. The consignment was dispatched directly from Sentani Airport in Jayapura. The delivery of 63 kg of sea cucumbers and fish bladders was successfully executed by Mr. Kolombus Bonyadone (44), a local Papua entrepreneur residing in the Depapre District of Jayapura Regency. Fish bladders represent a high-value commodity in foreign markets, as they are utilised in the health and beauty industries. Mr. Adeltus Lolok, the Head of the Jayapura Customs Office, conveyed that this event marks the inaugural export through Sentani Airport. It is hoped that this endeavour will continue sustainably, thus advancing Papua's native products. This achievement is a source of pride, as Mr. Kolombus demonstrates that local Papua entrepreneurs can indeed seize opportunities to independently export Papua's natural resources to foreign markets.

Mr. Kolombus also expressed gratitude to the Customs Office, Quarantine, the Fisheries Department, Garuda Indonesia, and all parties who assisted the export. Before initiating the export, Mr. Kolombus participated in a series of assistance programs at the Jayapura Customs Office, focusing on the introduction to the CEISA system, customs documentation, INSW, and related procedures. These assistance activities align with the core role of the Customs Office, which is to provide industrial support to domestic businesses, aimed at achieving competitive advantage and successful engagement in the international market. It is hoped that an increasing number of Papua's entrepreneurs will also become exporters.
